Karl talked with us on eLearnChat about some interesting new things he's working on in this episode.
His Enterprise Game Stack uses a card game format that is easy to set up, and fosters participation and interaction between people taking the training in various ways. One type of game possible in EGS, for example, is scenario-based roleplay, which allows people to go through scenarios related to the training topic, and relies on the other players to determine how well each person has handled each given scenario.
With Virtual Step Away, Karl, Deb Thomas, and Kevin Thorn created a very unique experience, rather than just trying to mimic the in-person version of the conference. He told us how these virtual sessions became in-depth discussions about visual thinking, game-based learning, and other subjects. The sessions typically transpired over the participants' lunchtimes, and became great places for people to pick each others' brains on many aspects of learning creation.
