My name is Harold Muliadi – I'm the graphic artist and video and media producer for RELATE. I'm also the producer for RELATECasts broadcasts. I've been doing design, fine art (you can see some of my work at my website), video editing, and audio production for almost a decade (nice, nonspecific number there so that this post doesn't become immediately outdated ). When it comes to training, I've handled just about any aspect of media, but making courses and training materials easily understood is what I find most important.
What I mean by that is manifold, but essentially, when it comes to learning, I find that design should put function first. Rather than always following the latest trends in visual style, I think it's important to make sure that end-users can find what they need to, when they need it.
There are many aspects to this. High contrast where it's relevant, for example, is key. A training course's graphics should use the principles of visual composition to direct the viewer's eye to the parts of the screen that contain the most critical information. Learners can't learn if they didn't pay attention to the right thing, after all! Besides graphics, video, animation, and audio, I also work with authoring tools, like Storyline, Captivate, iSpring, and others, when needed. Feel free to ask me whatever you'd like when it comes to eLearning!
